3 questions to ask at your next interview

Do you need to ask questions at an interview? The answer is yes! Interviews are a two-way street and asking questions shows that you are interested and keen to learn more.

Not sure what questions to ask? Here are 3:

1. What are the daily responsibilities of the role?

This is a great question because it shows you are interested in learning more about the role itself. You want to be clear on what will be expected of you. Also, this is an opportunity to really understand what your day will look like, and if it’s going to be something you want to do on a daily basis.

2. What is the culture of the company/business?

Again, this question demonstrates that you want to understand how they operate and if you fit into their culture. You may learn something about their values that doesn’t align with yours. Or, they may work in a way that doesn’t suit you, e.g. inflexible working hours. It’s good to learn this upfront.

3 .What challenges do you see for this position?

Every role has is its challenges, whether its hitting targets, long hours or something else. It’s useful to know what roadblocks you may encounter so you can be prepared. This question also demonstrates you are forward-thinking. The interviewer may turn this back on you and ask how you would deal with the challenges within the role. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your problem-solving skills.

Remember, you’re not asking questions simply for the sake of asking them. You want to show your interest but also learn more. The interview process is about finding out whether you are the right fit, but also if the job is the right fit for you.
